Capptions News

April 9, 2021

My name is Naomi Wan and I have joined the Capptions team as the new Marketing and Sales Intern.

I study International Business and Languages at the Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences and for my last year, I have to write a thesis.

When I was searching for internship vacancies, I quickly encountered Capptions. I was interested in the position immediately, because I was looking for a company where I could challenge myself and grow as a business student. I wanted to learn more about other industries and how they work. I have already done an internship in the travel industry and I liked it a lot, but for the thesis, I wanted to try something new and Capptions seemed like the perfect match.

My experience so far

This is my second week at Capptions. The team welcomed me with open arms and made me feel comfortable around them even though I was new. I have already learned a lot when it comes to marketing. I did some online training on digital marketing and my supervisor took the time to sit together with me to explain the reasons as to why they chose marketing strategies.

I haven't been at Capptions for long, but I can already say that this is an informative internship. I have some experience in marketing and sales. So, I am really curious to see how Capptions works when it comes to these departments and how much I can learn from them.

It is a complete new industry and a new market compared to my previous internship. Their approach to digital marketing will be completely different than what I am used to. So, I am really excited to learn more about the B2B world and how Capptions pitches their EHS software solution.

Bachelor thesis

For my thesis, I have to do a research on a management issue of the company. Capptions is a small but quite successful SaaS company. They have many domestic and international customers, but it is hard for them to pinpoint where the majority of their potential lies within these markets because of the wide variety in the clients they serve.

My thesis will be focusing on how Capptions can enter a new market and with which marketing strategy. I have done some preliminary research and I have decided to narrow down my thesis to the German market, because it seems like Capptions has the most potential to be successful in Germany. With the help from university and my company supervisor, I expect that I will write a thesis that adds real value.

A little bit more about myself.

I am 21 years old and I was born in the Netherlands. I was raised bilingual, Dutch and Cantonese. My parents are originally from Hong Kong. When I was younger, I loved to dance hip hop and streetdance. I liked it so much that I started doing volunteer work by giving dance classes to young children. I did this till I had to move away for university.

Through my study program, I had the amazing opportunity to live in Australia and Spain for six months. It was honestly one of the best things I have ever done. I have always loved to travel and when I was living abroad, I saw so many new places and had loads of new experiences.

One of my most memorable ones would be my first time skydiving. It was very spontaneous, but it was so much fun! There are still many places that I want to visit and things that I want to do. So, I am excited to see what the future holds for me and where my career will take me.

For now, I'm looking forward to the upcoming months and especially graduating with a Bachelor's degree.
