Safety data scattered across paper and Excel.

How Trivium Packaging pulled its observations, incidents and inspections into one system — and put the results back in front of the shop floor.

Packaging

Trivium Packaging produces metal packaging — cans for food, seafood, nutrition, paints and coatings, and aerosols — from its plant in Hoogeveen. As it rolled out a new set of leading safety indicators, it needed an easy way to administer those tasks and actually follow the trends, not just file them.

I use Capptions for reporting near-misses, reporting dangerous situations and accidents, but also for behavioral-based safety and safety inspection tours.

Before Capptions, all of that lived on paper and in Excel sheets — hard to administer, harder to learn from. Robert Hofmans, who leads health and safety across the Trivium Group, and his team moved it onto one platform.

Observations & incidents · one shared systemScattered

Since we are using Capptions it's much easier to administer all the behavioral observations we are doing. Instead of having everything on paper and Excel sheets, we now have one system — low threshold, easy to use, that gives us the information we need.

The part that made it stick was closing the loop with the people doing the reporting. Employees can see their reports go somewhere, track them, and watch the results — Trivium publishes them weekly on TV screens on the floor.

Low bar
easy enough that people actually report

I like working with Capptions because our employees can see that we actually do something with their reports, and they can track their reports, and we also publish them weekly on our TV screens.
