A safety system that gives options, not limitations.

How Kotug International's QHSE lead got a tool his crews actually use — and the freedom to redesign safety management around it.

Kotug International has been a maritime towing pioneer out of Rotterdam since 1934. Managing safety at sea doesn't fit a rigid, form-heavy tool — Corporate QHSE Manager Marijn Cox needed something that matched how crews actually work, and that he could shape himself.

As a user it appeals to my normal way of working. These days I can make a picture, make a doodle on the phone to describe a situation, take a photo and enter it into the system.

The bigger shift was on the other side of the app — the design side. Instead of bending Kotug's process to fit the software, Marijn could bend the software to fit Kotug.

From a manager and designer perspective, Capptions gave me freedom. It gave me options in how to use the system and how to rethink how we were providing our people with support.

That's where Capptions changed how we think about our safety management system, because it gives us more options instead of limitations.
