This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) forms part of the Capptions Terms of Service and applies to every user of Capptions One, Capptions Direct, the Marketplace, Capptions AI and Seveso.app.
- Version: 2026.1
- Effective date: 1 January 2026
1. You must not
You may not use the Capptions products to:
- break any law in the jurisdictions where you operate;
- infringe intellectual property, privacy, publicity or contractual rights of others;
- upload, store or transmit content that is illegal, defamatory, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, or that exploits minors;
- upload malware, attempt to bypass security controls, or interfere with other tenants’ use of the service;
- probe, scan or load-test the platform without prior written consent — contact security@capptions.com;
- scrape, mass-export, or re-sell platform data beyond your contractual rights;
- impersonate any person or organisation, or misrepresent your affiliation with anyone;
- circumvent rate limits, tenancy boundaries or licensing controls.
2. AI features — additional rules
When using Capptions AI, Seveso.app AI assistance, or any other AI-powered feature, you must not:
- use outputs as the sole basis for decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on a person (Art. 22 GDPR). A human user must review and approve such decisions.
- submit personal data of third parties without a lawful basis under the GDPR;
- submit special-category data (Art. 9 GDPR) unless your tenant has the feature explicitly enabled and you have a lawful basis;
- attempt to extract training data, reverse-engineer prompts of other tenants, or jailbreak safety controls;
- use outputs to generate content that would breach Section 1;
- present AI-generated content as human-authored where transparency is legally required (e.g. under the EU AI Act Art. 50 and the DSA).
For safety-critical use cases such as Seveso.app, AI outputs are assistive only. The accountable safety professional remains the decision- maker for any major-accident hazard analysis, Seveso safety report, or corrective action.
3. Marketplace publishers
Publishers in the Capptions Direct Marketplace must additionally follow the Marketplace Guidelines and the Partnership Terms.
4. Enforcement
Capptions may suspend or terminate access where a user violates this AUP, or where required to protect the platform, other customers, or third parties. We give notice where reasonably possible and limit suspensions to the affected user or feature.
5. Reporting abuse
Report abuse to abuse@capptions.com. Reports are triaged within one business day.
