What is vergewisplicht

Don't just ask — verify.

As the client of a building project you are legally required to verify that the parties in your chain — main contractor, subcontractor, freelancer, designer — can do their work safely, healthily and according to the rules. Not once at award, but continuously.

A signed H&S plan or a certificate alone is not enough. The law demands active verification and a dossier that proves your effort — to colleagues, clients, regulators and, in the worst case, the court.

  • Risks mapped per project and phase
  • Stakeholders with clear roles and duties
  • Verification instead of assumptions
  • Evidence always in order
For whom

One language for the entire chain.

The duty to verify is not the responsibility of one party. The framework connects every role in the construction chain to the same facts, duties and evidence.

Primary audience

Clients of building works

From a one-off renovation to a continuous real-estate portfolio. Make your duty to verify concrete, shareable across your organisation and audit-proof.

Execution

Main contractors & chain partners

Select, onboard and monitor subcontractors, freelancers and suppliers with a uniform set of verifications that works in every chain.

Design & advice

Designers & advisors

Architects, engineers and safety consultants link design choices to chain risks and deliver a substantiated dossier.

Supervision & compliance

Regulators & lawyers

Inspectorates, municipalities and compliance officers receive a structured dossier that holds up against Wkb, Arbo and Environment Act.

The framework

Four pillars that make every duty to verify concrete.

Built on the masterclass Vergewisplicht for clients of building works. No checklist theatre, but a working method that fits any organisation and any project.

01

Master template

A structured base with all legal anchors — Wkb, Art. 2.26 Arbobesluit, Environment Act — from which every project is derived.

02

Stakeholder matrix

Who is client, who is contractor, who is designer? Roles, duties and information obligations per party, per project phase.

03

Verification trail

Every claim — certificate, H&S plan, qualification — gets a verification step and a piece of evidence in the dossier.

04

Provable dossier

One timeline of decisions, checks and corrections. Directly shareable with regulators, clients or judges.

  • Integrates with existing Capptions accounts
  • Usable standalone for individual projects
  • Templates based on the masterclass
  • Ready for dossier & login expansion
